RESEARCH

– The IPD is a recipient of the 2015 Department of Energy INCITE award! A total of 56 projects will share more than 5 billion core hours on two of the country’s fastest supercomputers dedicated to open science. The Baker and DiMaio labs will use their allocation towards breakthroughs in protein structure calculation and design. Read the full award announcement here.

– Senior fellows in the Baker lab, Drs. Fabio Parmeggiani and Po-Ssu Huang, along with collaborators at Columbia University and Rutgers, published a paper in the Journal of Molecular Biology entitled A general computational approach for repeat protein design.

INSTITUTE

The power of gifts! IPD Translational Investigator research, like that of Dr. Ingrid Swanson Pultz, benefit from the generosity of philanthropic donors and other contributors. Dr. Pultz’s work aims to develop an oral therapeutic for celiac disease. More on how gifts power IPD translational research was featured in the 2013-14 UW Annual Report to Donors – Taking Proteins to the Clinic: Gifts put development on a fast track.

Your contributions help us accomplish our ambitious and exciting research projects! Consider making a gift today to support the work of the Institute for Protein Design. Follow this link to view our Give page.

OUTREACH

Members of the Institute for Protein Design teamed up with Foldit to participate in the Pacific Science Center’s Life Sciences Research Weekend! Volunteers demoed Foldit, explained protein folding to many young scientists and let them play the game – fun was had by all involved.
