Justin earned his undergraduate degree and Ph.D. in biochemistry at the University of Vermont. His graduate work looked at the structure function relationship of the myosin motor domain in different nucleotide states. Justin then started a postdoctoral fellowship in 2011 working with Dr. Linda Wordeman at the UW characterizing the unstudied kinesin motor Kif25. This research was heavily focused on both live and fixed cell microscopy as well as the development of long-term imaging assays.
